The second half of the match turned into a thrilling spectacle as Tottenham managed to claw their way back from a two-goal deficit to secure a 2-2 draw against Manchester City at home. This result unexpectedly bolstered the title bid of their fierce rivals, Arsenal.
Manchester City seemed poised for an easy victory after a dominant first half, during which Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo found the back of the net, putting Pep Guardiola’s squad firmly in control.
However, Spurs, who faced boos from their supporters at halftime, ignited hope with a controversial own goal by Marc Guehi in the 53rd minute. This unexpected turn set the stage for Dominic Solanke to unleash a stunning back heel equalizer in the 73rd minute.
As both teams pushed for a winner, the match ended in a draw, leaving Manchester City sitting six points behind Premier League leaders, Arsenal.
This comeback served as a vital moment for Thomas Frank, who has faced intense scrutiny from the Spurs fanbase. Despite only marking their second victory in 15 league outings, this match prevented yet another home loss for the struggling side.
With Arsenal achieving a notable 4-0 win against Leeds the day before, the pressure mounted on City. Spurs, however, fielded a significantly depleted lineup with key players, including central defender Micky van de Ven, absent.
In light of these absences, Radu Dragusin made his first start in a year after recovering from a severe knee injury, but things started poorly for Spurs as they fell behind early.
After City regained possession from Yves Bissouma, Erling Haaland sent a perfectly timed ball to Cherki, who skillfully found space to slot the ball into the bottom corner.
City could have built on their lead seven minutes later, but Haaland missed a glorious opportunity by lobbing the ball over the crossbar.
As frustration simmered among Spurs fans, Cherki continued to be a thorn in their side. After dancing past Dragusin, his powerful 23rd-minute shot was expertly tipped away by Guglielmo Vicario, despite the resulting goal kick.
Spurs finally began to show signs of life as Solanke set up Xavi Simons whose shot was blocked. Yet, City doubled their advantage just before halftime when Dragusin’s attempted pass was intercepted by Rodri. He found Bernardo Silva, who assisted Semenyo’s curling effort into the net.

The halftime boos echoed throughout the stadium, and with captain Cristian Romero sidelined, Frank shifted to a 4-2-3-1 formation which immediately showed results.
Conor Gallagher’s shot sailed over the bar before Destiny Udogie was brilliantly stopped by Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Spurs finally found the net in a contentious goal in the 53rd minute, when Simons delivered an impressive pass to Solanke. Solanke’s maneuver caused Guehi to inadvertently turn the ball into his own net.

After a VAR check for offside and a foul, the goal was awarded, igniting cheers from the home fans while Guardiola received a booking for his protests.
Frustrated with the call, Guardiola later remarked, “If a central defender does it to a striker, it’s a penalty. The game was well played, but an emotional issue impacted the flow after the first goal conceded.”
With momentum swinging Spurs’ way, Frank made an impactful substitution by introducing Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel in the 68th minute. Just three minutes later, Solanke sent the stadium into a frenzy.
Gallagher surged down the right and delivered a cross that Solanke executed with a brilliant back heel, leveling the score at 2-2.
Spurs continued to apply pressure as Simons set up Odobert, but Donnarumma made a crucial save. Moments later, Simons’ effort was also thwarted by the City goalkeeper’s sprawling dive.
Late in the match, City pressed for a winner, with Tijjani Reijnders missing two opportunities, but Tottenham’s substitute Sarr stepped up to defend against attempts from Guehi and Haaland, ensuring that both teams left with a share of the points.
