Supporters have criticized Lionel Messi’s teammate Luis Suarez for an alleged incident at the conclusion of Inter Miami’s 3-0 loss to Seattle Sounders in the Leagues Cup final. The Herons entered the match with optimistic momentum, but it was the Western Conference team that took charge early on Sunday, August 31, at Lumen Field.
Osaze De Rosario opened the scoring for the Sounders in the 26th minute, with the hosts controlling the game for the remainder of the first half. Despite efforts from Lionel Messi and the team to impose their style, they could not find the back of the net.
Seattle Sounders doubled their lead with a penalty from Alex Roldan in the 84th minute, followed by Paul Rothrock sealing the victory five minutes later. Tensions flared, however, when Luis Suarez became embroiled in a confrontation with Obed Vargas at full time.
Additionally, the Uruguayan seemed to spit on a member of the opposing staff.
Fans quickly took to social media to share their reactions. One user condemned the Inter Miami player’s actions, calling them disgraceful, stating:
“That’s disgusting and disgraceful from a football player. Barcelona’s product.”
Another added:
“Ban Suarez for life. If he isn’t banned, we can expect more of this shit forever from him. He’s trash, always has been, always will be.”
One supporter argued that the Uruguayan should be subjected to a significant suspension and fine, commenting:
“2-year suspension and a $1 million fine. Better yet, kick him out of football already. This guy will never learn.”
Another user quipped:
“At least Suárez didn’t bite him. I call that improvement. LOL, what a sore loser.”
Inter Miami managed 10 shots throughout the match, with none hitting the target.
