Marcus Rashford Takes Stand As Transfer Deal Is Finalized

Marcus Rashford has clearly expressed his feelings by hitting the gym, amidst a rumored deal that may or may not involve his future.

Rash decision (part the 427th) It’s evident that Marcus Rashford commands attention, as he consistently headlines the news; there’s no ambiguity with descriptors like ‘Man Utd star/ace/outcast’ surrounding him.

However, a lot of questionable commentary surrounds Rashford, including this ridiculous piece from the Mirror:

Marcus Rashford makes feelings clear after being banished from Man Utd squad

We anticipate some mischief. We expect to see a gloomy face (actual or emoji), but what we do not expect is absolutely no indication of his feelings whatsoever.

Rashford has reportedly— and the Mirror acknowledges this in the first paragraph—‘shown himself training alone at Carrington after being isolated from the rest of the squad’. There are no accompanying words or emojis.

What he categorically does not do is ‘make his feelings clear.’

Furthermore, there are clicks to be garnered from hinting that Rashford is set to leave Manchester United, as illustrated by these two articles from the Reach network:

Man Utd transfer news: Marcus Rashford makes big-money decision as ‘deal agreed’ – Mirror.

Marcus Rashford reaches mega money Man Utd transfer decision as ‘contract signed’ – Daily Star.

You might be wondering: Who is Godwill Kukonki? The answer is a seventeen-year-old defender.

When is a shock not a shock?‘Jose Mourinho ready to offer Marcus Rashford a shock reunion at Fenerbache as Turkish giants weigh up transfer’ states The Sun.

Who among us is actually ‘shocked’ that Mourinho would pursue a highly gifted footballer who has played more matches for Manchester United under him than any other coach?

And this is even before considering that this story surfaced six days ago.

When is a SHOCK not a shock? And then over at…

‘Man Utd transfer news LIVE: Jackson linked with SHOCK move, United ‘get Mbeumo BOOST’, Red Devils ‘open Tolisso talks’’ – The Sun.

We literally covered this six weeks ago. Capitalization won’t make us any more shocked/SHOCKED.

Are we nearly there yet?Arsenal has been making serious moves this summer; they have already invested £75m on three signings and are in talks for Viktor Gyokeres (£54.8m), Noni Madueke (£48m), and Cristhian Mosquera (£13m). This would push their total summer expenditures to around £190m. Or so The Sun proclaims, ‘spending spree nears £200 million’.

Some outlets seem eager to assert that Arsenal has spent £200m. Perhaps because that figure is enticing. It’s a substantial amount.

‘Arsenal is finalizing a deal for Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera, a move that could push their summer spending over the £200m threshold with SIX players potentially arriving before their pre-season tour to Asia on Saturday, July 19,’ reports John Cross in the Daily Mirror. The emphasis on SIX is supposed to elicit surprise.

Just wait until he realizes that Brighton, Liverpool, and Sunderland have also recruited SIX players, Chelsea has made SEVEN, and Burnley has brought in TEN signings. Almost as if that’s not such a remarkable figure after all.

It’s only considered spending ‘over the £200m mark’ if we factor in all add-ons which, importantly, will kick in later, depending on specific circumstances.

‘Arsenal is aiming to finalize the signing of Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia this week in a deal that could bring their summer expenditure past the £200m mark,’ says The Guardian. No, it wouldn’t. And using the term ‘potentially’ twice in the first paragraphs suggests a stretch for reaching that enticing £200m figure.

Relax, everyone; £190m is still an enormous sum.

The magic EIGHT ballSo, do you know what’s greater than SIX? You might think SEVEN, but overlook SEVEN and let’s jump right to EIGHT.

Mikel Arteta’s stance on EIGHT Arsenal exits after £203m summer spending spree

That’s the Mirror, who seem to have a solid grasp on Arteta’s ‘stance’ on EIGHT Arsenal departures.

We can include Karl Hein, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Fabio Vieira, and Reiss Nelson; all were on loan last season and may be available this summer.

We can also reasonably mention Oleksandr Zinchenko as he doesn’t seem to fit into the plans. Yet, it’s mere speculation that ‘a deal for Mosquera could lead to the departure of the Pole (Kiwior)’. That’s not ‘Mikel Arteta’s stance’; it’s just a jumble of words.

Introduce Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli (‘Arteta values both players but circumstances could shift’) and suddenly you miraculously reach EIGHT. This makes us wonder if Arsenal should be signing more than SIX.
