Reports indicate that Real Madrid has its eyes set on signing Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, potentially positioning him as a replacement for Jude Bellingham.

Fernandes has been in the spotlight regarding a possible departure from Manchester United. Speculation surrounds whether he will continue at Old Trafford after this season.

As the captain, Fernandes has been a standout performer for United over the past few years, often regarded as the team’s premium talent. However, it seems he isn’t fully valued by the club’s management.

In fact, the Red Devils considered selling Fernandes last summer to generate funds for their squad overhaul, particularly amidst interest from Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League. Ultimately, he chose to stay for at least another year.

Fernandes has shown impressive form in his advanced role during Manchester United’s initial matches under interim manager Michael Carrick. However, the option to transfer him still looms as the summer approaches.

While rumours suggest a possible move to the Middle East, recent reports assert that Fernandes has no intentions of joining the Saudi Pro League at this point in his career, as he aims to compete at the highest level.

Nonetheless, as stated by Fichajes, Real Madrid’s president Florentino Perez is keen on securing him as a ‘summer coup’.

This arrangement could potentially pave the way for Bellingham’s exit, rumored to be put on the market due to issues concerning his attitude.

Madrid’s management regards Fernandes as a ‘fantastic market opportunity’ that could come at a bargain price, given that his current contract runs until 2027, inclusive of an extension option.

The report elaborates:

‘At 31 years old, his transfer fee could be set between 40 and 50 million euros. With his contract with Manchester United nearing its final stages next summer, this price becomes exceptionally reasonable for Real Madrid.

‘The acquisition of the Portuguese international would enable Florentino Pérez to make a strategic financial decision that could significantly alter team dynamics. Speculation surrounds that the signing might also lead to Bellingham’s sale, generating substantial funds for the club in the upcoming transfer window.’
