Oliver Glasner may be on the verge of a departure from Crystal Palace, as the club continues to struggle, winning just one of their last eleven league matches.
When asked if he plans to remain with the team until season’s end, he responded, “Let’s see what the future brings, you never know.”
“We’re not in the best moment right now. I understand and take responsibility for everything, because I’m responsible for the whole team.”
Glasner openly admitted, “I’m just not good enough to replace the players we sold. I’m just not good enough to integrate the new players in a way.”
Given this situation, here are the six frontrunners favored to take over for Glasner, according to recent betting odds.
1. Robbie Keane – 13/8
The former Liverpool and Tottenham striker figures prominently in discussions as the top candidate for the role at Selhurst Park.
Recently, Keane has been linked to various high-profile positions, with Celtic and Tottenham both considering him.
Currently, he’s having success with Ferencvaros in Hungary, where his team ranks second in the table, just three points behind the leader.
It remains to be seen if the allure of the Premier League could draw him away from his current position.
2. Thomas Frank – 5/2
Considering the remarkable job Frank has done at Brentford, it’s no surprise that Palace is reportedly eyeing him.
While his time at Spurs has affected his reputation, Palace would be smart to explore this option, especially given their current challenges.
Fulham is also interested in Frank, as uncertainties surround Marco Silva’s long-term future.
=3. Jose Bordalas – 10/3
Bordalas has a managerial career that dates back to 1993, primarily within Spain.
Currently managing Getafe since April 2023, he has consistently secured mid-table finishes in La Liga.
While his style may not appeal to everyone, it is effective and yields results, explaining his longevity in the profession.
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague characterized Bordalas: “His methods are rooted in structure and detail. Training sessions can last three hours, double the usual length. Players are weighed every morning; those returning overweight after holidays must train with extra weight strapped on.”
=3. Paddy McCarthy – 10/3
Since his retirement in 2016, McCarthy has remained with Palace, taking on various coaching roles.
He has twice served as caretaker manager and is currently part of Glasner’s coaching staff.
If Palace opts for an internal promotion to succeed Glasner, McCarthy appears to be the most logical choice.
5. Inigo Perez – 9/2
Perez was set to join Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth as an assistant, but work permit issues prevented that transfer.
He has since taken the head coach position at Rayo Vallecano, attracting interest for guiding the team to eighth place last season.
Currently, Perez’s squad is just above the relegation zone in La Liga, but that hasn’t deterred Palace from considering him.
6. Roberto De Zerbi – 6/1
Could it happen?
The former Brighton manager is now unemployed after his recent dismissal from Marseille.
