Thomas Frank is in a precarious situation at Tottenham. The team currently finds itself in 14th place in the Premier League, only eight points clear of the relegation zone.
Given the ongoing struggles this season, it appears increasingly unlikely that Frank will remain at the helm next year unless he can engineer a significant turnaround in the coming weeks.
With this uncertainty hanging over the club, we’ve evaluated the six most notable managers whose contracts expire this summer, ranked by their likelihood of taking the reins at Tottenham.
6. Thomas Tuchel
Tuchel would undoubtedly be a strong addition to Tottenham and there’s excitement about the prospect of him taking on the club after the World Cup. However, the German tactician will likely have other attractive options available.
He has been strongly linked with a potential role at Manchester United, making it crucial for Spurs to put forth a compelling offer if they wish to secure his services.
5. Ernesto Valverde
Back in 2021, Tottenham considered a move for Valverde, but that transfer never materialized.
The 61-year-old will be out of contract with Athletic Club at season’s end, leaving his future uncertain as discussions about a new contract remain unresolved.
His lack of experience in the Premier League may hinder his chances here, yet his past achievements are noteworthy. Valverde led Barcelona effectively, capturing two league titles, and has since helped Athletic Bilbao compete for top-four finishes.
4. Marco Silva
Before bringing in Frank, Tottenham had Silva on their shortlist. The 48-year-old has impressed with Fulham, continually pushing for top-half finishes despite the resources at his disposal.
As his contract at Craven Cottage wraps up this summer, it’s likely he’ll be back on Tottenham’s radar, although there may be a few candidates ahead of him at this stage.
3. Oliver Glasner
Glasner has done an exceptional job with Crystal Palace, steering them into Europe and securing two trophies along the way.
His name is likely to appear on Tottenham’s shortlist, even if previous tenures at Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt raise some caution about his compatibility with club hierarchies.
Without solid backing, conflicts could emerge between him and Spurs’ management. Nevertheless, he’s a strong contender worth considering this summer.
2. Andoni Iraola
As Tottenham drifts further from ‘The Tottenham Way,’ Iraola could be the candidate to restore that essence. His dynamic style of attacking football aligns well with what fans typically expect in North London, and he’s already been linked to the position in the past.
Although Bournemouth’s struggles this season have somewhat tarnished his image, the loss of key players has made the decline somewhat anticipated.
Among the out-of-contract Premier League managers, Iraola stands out as a potentially excellent fit for Spurs.
1. Mauricio Pochettino
Although they say returning to a former manager is often a mistake, at this point, what can Tottenham really lose?
Since the split, Spurs have slipped from being Champions League finalists and serious league contenders to a mid-table club.
Pochettino has had decent spells at PSG, Chelsea, and currently with the U.S. national team, but he hasn’t forged a connection with those teams comparable to what he had with Tottenham.
Football Insider reports that Pochettino would be open to rejoining Spurs after the 2026 World Cup, and many fans would welcome this. Stay tuned.
